Player Registration

INFORMATION YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE

Regular Season
  • Skaters name, gender, and date of birth 
  • Parent/Guardian name, address, phone number, and email
  • Credit card, debit card, or checking information (If using online payment option)
  • Birth year needs to be verified with the player's birth certificate this will be uploaded during registration one time.
  • Each Player will need a unique USA Hockey number obtained at USA Hockey Membership.

USA Hockey AND WAHA Fees:

The USA Hockey Registration fees are listed below. The Affiliate fee: Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association (if applicable). If a participant plays and coaches, he/she pays only one registration fee.

USA Hockey Fees

  • 2018 and younger: $15
  • 2017-2016: $50
  • 2015-2012: $61
  • 2011-2006: $70

Affiliate Fee - Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA)

  • $10

Please read the information in the three policy/guidelines below and note that by registering your player(s) online with TYH you agree to abide by these policies. You may choose to print a copy to keep for your records.

Registration fees can be paid in full during registration in full. Or you can pay via cash or check offline using code "PAYOFFLINE" during registration.

payment plan

Fees are divided into 4 equal installments due monthly on the 1st. These fees can be paid with 4 checks dated 10/1/24, 11/1/24, 12/1/24 and 1/1/25 or through your TYH Crossbar account. If you choose the online payment plan the first installment is collected upon conclusion of the registration session via Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or checking account. The remaining balance will be automatically debited in 3 equal installments from the SAME ACCOUNT. If you wish to use a different account to pay the balance, please log in to your TYH Crossbar account BEFORE the first day of payment to update your account information.

This covers TYH registration fees for session 1 for first year learn to skate or a full season on a regular team.

VOLUNTEER HOURS

Service hours can be bought out at the time of online registration or by mail a deposit/buyout check (1 per family)

Buyout

  • Check needs to be dated 10/01/2024. Please note "BUYOUT" on the memo line of the check.

1st Year Players with new USA Hockey number LTS-Bantam

  • 0 hours to work, $0 deposit required

RETURNING L2S FULL SEASON AND SECONDARY TEAMS

  • 15 hours to work, $300 deposit required

ALL PRIMARY TEAMS: MITE - BANTAM

  • 20 hours to work, $500 deposit required

Positions Eligible for service hour credits

  • Rink Crew: rink set up and tear down, zamboni driving, and building maintenance - 100% reduction on service hours.
  • Website Administrator - 25% reduction on service hours.
  • Rostered head coaches - 50% reduction on service hours.
  • Rostered assistant coaches - 25% reduction on service hours.
  • Team Managers - 50% reduction on service hours.
  • Board of Directors and chairpersons do not receive a service hour fee reduction.

EQUIPMENT RENTAL

Buy in full

Equipment fees are paid in full at registration or by mailing a check dated 10/01/24. Please not "EQUIPMENT RENTAL" on the memo line of the check. 

1st year learn to skate or mite

  • Rental cost $0

Returning Learn to skate or Mite

  • Rental cost $50 for full set, $10 per item

Co-Ed Jersey

A deposit check, dated 03/15/25 in the amount of $200 (per player) is required for Mite-Bantam players. Please note "JERSEY DEPOSIT" on the memo line of the check.

  • Checks can be mailed or handed in at the mandatory team meetings when jersey agreements are signed and jerseys are handed out.

Girls Jersey

Girls team jerseys will be purchased by the individual players and will be the players property. No deposit check is needed. Both home & away jersey are required.

  • Home Jersey $60

GAME SOCKS

New Sublimated Game Day Sock will be part of the TYH uniform

  • LTS: knit practice socks will be provided at no cost
  • Mites, Girls, Squirt, Peewee, and Bantam: two set $30

Neck Laceration Protector Program

Starting this year, NLPs are required by all Youth players per USA hockey. To make the requirement easy to adhere to, TYH is creating a NLP Program offering the Bauer Core Protector for FREE and the Bauer Premium for $15, see product links below. NLPs will be available at the Season Kick Off Party & 2nd Annual Fun Run/Walk September 8th and gear hand out dates.

Fundraiser Payments

TYH has mandatory fundraising for teams Mite through Bantams to help keep registration fees low. The fundraiser is per family. First year players with a new USA Hockey number, the fundraiser is NOT mandatory. More information regarding each fundraising option will be available at in person registration and the team meeting. TYH has three options when it comes to the fundraiser:

  • Popcorn fundraiser - must sell 40 bags. Money is returned with sold popcorn form.
  • Calendar fundraiser - must sell $200 worth. Money is returned with sold calendar stubs.
  • Combo: mix and match fundraiser but must equal $200 raised. 20 bags of popcorn and $100 calendar tickets
  • Fundraiser buyout for $200 (receive no goods in return). A check can be mailed to TYH. Please note “FUNDRAISER” in the memo line.

TYH also hosts many additional fundraising opportunities through the year, such as brat stands, fair booths, parades, car shows, and fun runs. These are not required fundraisers but all help is welcome and some hours may apply to volunteer hours.

Preseason

TYH's preseason will be held at the Lake Delton Ice Arena Mondays and Wednesdays starting September 16th through October for Mites U6 through Bantams (not learn to skate).

  • 5:30-6:15 6U/8U Mites
  • 6:00-7:00 10U Squirts & Girls U10
  • 6:30-7:30 Peewee, Bantam, Girls U12 & U14

Player Evaluations

Players must be registered with TYH to participate in preseason and team selections. Player evaluations will be held September 23rd & 25th during the preseason schedule at the Lake Delton Ice Arena. Each player will participate in a skills session and a scrimmage scenario. Evaluations will determine team placement. Players are encouraged to attend both dates but only one is required to be evaluated. If you are interested in your 8U player skating up, please submit the WAHA form 8U Player Request to Move Up to 10U-Playing Season to thunderbirdyouthhockey@gmail.com.

SKILL LEVELS AND EXPECTATIONS

LEARN TO SKATE (L2S):

The focus and goal of the Learn to Skate (L2S) curriculums are designed to teach beginner hockey players the fundamentals of skating. Age and skill appropriate drills are used to teach the players how to skate and play hockey. It’s important for these players to become comfortable on the ice, learn the basic hockey stance, stride, knee bend, use of edges and how to hold a stick before moving into a learn to play, 6U or 8U full hockey curriculum. L2S will practice 2x a week, tentative schedule Mondays and Wednesday evenings and potentially Saturday mornings.

Learn to Skate will be broke up into 2 sessions. Session 1 running November – December and session 2 running January – February. Returning LTS players will automatically be registered for the full season. New learn to skate players will have the option to register for both session 1 and/or session 2.


MITE U6 & U8:

At the 8-and-Under level, coaches should focus on teaching age appropriate concepts and skills so that children have an enjoyable hockey experience while also developing as players and young people. Mites will practice 2-3x a week with games and events on the weekends.

FOCUS POINTS:

•Active Practices

Age-Appropriate Training (includes skills and concepts) - Skating, Stick handling, Passing, Shooting

Mites levels will start to have competitive cross ice games and jamborees.


SQUIRT & U10: 10-AND-UNDER

Squirts will practice 2-3x a week with games and events on the weekends.

FOCUS POINTS:

•Fun
•Engagement
•Active Practices

Age-Appropriate Training - Continued individual skill development and introduction to team play and positioning

Basic Hockey Knowledge - Offsides, icing, penalties and other full ice game concepts and rules

Full ice games and tournaments will be played on the weekends.


PEEWEE & U12: 12-AND-UNDER

Peewees practice 2-3x a week. Full ice games and tournaments will be played on the weekends.

FOCUS POINTS:

•Fun and Engagement
•Active Practices
•Age-Appropriate Training

Skill Development - Continue individual skill development along with introduction and refinement of team skills and player positioning.

Body Contact/Body Checking - Checking is not allowed at this level but fundamentals of player to player contact are introduced. This includes using your body to protect the puck or impede an opponents progress toward the puck.


BANTAM: 14-AND-UNDER

Bantams practice 2-3x a week with games and events on the weekends.

FOCUS POINTS:

•Fun and Engagement
•Practice Activity and Structure
•Age-Appropriate Training

Body Contact/Body Checking - Checking is allowed. Building on their introduction to contact learn safe effective methods of checking and receiving checks.

Skill Development - More advanced skating techniques and edgework. Refinement of different shots and stick handling movements.

Team Play - Further refine hockey concepts within overall team play. Powerplay, breakout, forecheck, regroup and other game systems.

Full ice games and tournaments will be played on the weekends.
